okay so New Zealand just dropped their inflation number and it came in a little higher than expected (1.5% vs the 1.4% forecast), and it's a pretty big jump from the previous 0.9%... which honestly sounds like it could matter for the New Zealand dollar and maybe how their central bank thinks about rates going forward? I don't follow NZD closely at all but I know inflation surprises can move currencies and shift expectations around interest rate decisions. that said I've learned enough by now to know markets don't always react the way you'd expect, so who knows how this actually plays out 😅 just thought it was interesting!
