New Zealand CPI came in above forecast for Q2, with the quarterly print beating expectations and sitting well above the prior reading. That kind of inflation surprise tends to put upward pressure on NZD pairs in the short term, as rate cut expectations get repriced. Worth noting though, reactions to CPI out of smaller economies can be uneven, particularly during low-liquidity hours. Let the price action develop before assuming the move has legs.
